Grace M. Viere, Ph.D.
Dr. Viere earned a Bachelor's degree from The University of Maine at Farmington in 1988 with dual majors in Elementary and Special Education and a minor in Psychology. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1991. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2000.
Dr. Viere has has worked in both the public and private school settings as teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. She has also taught courses at a community college as well as graduate level courses at four year institutions.
Her counseling approach is grounded in the perspective that greater self-awareness and insight, when reached through a collaborative process, gradually leads to behavioral change. This allows individuals to experience relief from stress and greater satisfaction in their lives and relationships.
Dr. Viere has been married for over twenty years and has two sons. She and her family have been living in the Charlottesville area since 1995.
